Sonora Review is run entirely by graduate students in the MFA program at the University of Arizona. We publish fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction, and we value honesty and innovation. We do not consider genre work (romance, mystery, horror, sci-fi) unless it manages to transcend the boundaries of the genre. We aim to publish work by both established and emerging writers.
Our turnaround time is fairly quick, but we do not read over the summer… Sometimes it will take us a month to get back to you or even longer if your work is being considered for publication. Generally speaking, we will get back to you in less than a month for regular submissions.
Nonfiction - $3.00
Simultaneous submissions are okay, but we would like to be informed of them. All manuscripts must be typed and double-spaced. For poetry, send up to five poems. For fiction and non-fiction, we have difficulty finding space for pieces longer than 10,000 words. We charge a 3 dollar fee, 2 for reading, 1 for tech. This will ensure your work gets read thoroughly.Fiction - $3.00
